A Star Consumes Jupiter-Sized Planet, Revealing Insights into Planetary Engulfment

A team of astronomers led by researchers from the California Institute of Technology has made a groundbreaking discovery, capturing images of a star eating a Jupiter-sized planet. The event, which was observed in unprecedented detail, may provide new insights into how stars and planets evolve. Stunning Discovery: Star Devours Planet The discovery of a star, ZTF SLRN-2020, consuming a planet is a rare and exciting event in astronomy, and it is the first time such an event has been observed in such detail. This discovery was made possible by the use of the Keck Observatory in Hawaii, which is one of the largest and most scientifically productive telescopes in the world. Its twin telescopes, each with a primary mirror 10 meters in diameter, are among the world's largest optical and infrared telescopes.

Mangalyaan: The Indian Mars Mission That Took the World by Storm (Article Updated in 2023)

In 2013, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) embarked on a monumental mission to explore the Red Planet with Mangalyaan or Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM). Approved by the government of India, Mangalyaan was a millionaire interplanetary space project aimed at establishing an Indian craft into Mars’ orbit, with a launch date set for October of that year. The main objective of Mangalyaan was to conduct a deep study of the Red Planet and its chemistry, making ISRO the fourth space agency to reach Mars after NASA’s Curiosity Rover, Roscosmos, and ESA. This article is a small package of words that explains Mangalyaan's objectives, challenges, and interesting information about the Indian Mars craft that captured the attention of the world. The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) worked on the Mangalyaan mission, which was the first time an Indian spacecraft explored the Red Planet from Mars' orbit. According to updates from ISRO, the Mangalyaan had a mass of 500 kg. This h...

Life on Earth was originated from Mars, said Scientists with new proofs

Are we aliens? Where did the life originated from? Does life on Earth has any link to the life on Mars, the Red planet? Well, we can start thinking on it as the scientists from Italy have claimed that the life had come from Mars on our Earth, with proofs. While it has always been mystery about who are us how did life originated at the first on our Blue planet , some scientists from Italy have come with provable proofs for the origination of Life from Mars to the Earth. The research has been present in Goldsmith function which was organized in Florence, Italy recently. According to the results of this research, the life on the Earth had been originated from a giant asteroid which had come from the Red planet (Mars) itself. An American scientist, Professor Steven who is linked to the research told to the media that their team has found enough proofs that the most important atoms and constituents for the life-on-the-Earth were developed on Mars. Professor Steven b...

The God particle; and things to know about Higgs Boson

God particle is a sub-atomic particle (also known as ‘Higgs Boson’) which is responsible for proving mass of the matter. It is known that the weight of a body depends on the presence of gravitation while the mass always remains same, be it on Earth or any other planet or moon. In this article, I am going to talk on God particle; what is God particle/Higgs Boson and how it was named so. Also, some important results that have been obtained by the continued research and help of ‘The Large Hadron Collider’ can be read here. What is God Particle? Why the Higgs boson matters? The God Particle (or Higgs boson) is a sub-atomic particle discovered by CERN , is considered to an important particle responsible for the mass of matter and a building block of the Universe. It is believed to be the mass provider or a strong constituent of matter which contributes in the mass and various other properties of matter (solid, liquid, gas). According to Layman’s theory, a variety of sub-atomic pa...

10 things to know about Large Hadron Collider (LHC), CERN

Large Hadron Collider (also referred as LHC) is a particle accelerator which has been in news for testing and discovery of the metaphorically known ‘The God particle’, the Higgs boson. Let’s know a few things out of many about the Large Hadron Collider in this mini article. 10) The Large Hadron Collider is the largest and highest-energy particle accelerator in the world. 9) It was built and advanced during 1998 to 2008, by CERN (the European Organization for Nuclelar Research). 8) The main aim behind the invention and processing of LHC was to understand and test the predictions made by different theories in particle physics. However, the most targeted aim was to know about the existence of a sub-atomic particle, Higgs boson . 7) The existence of LHC is a result of contributed efforts made by more than ten thousands scientists and hundreds of laboratories and universities played role in the contribution of Large Hardon Collider’s development. 6) It i...

Bacterium 'Planococcus haloctyophilus OR1' bacterium from Earth unfolds the signs of Life possible on Mars ‘The Red Planet’

Bacterium from Canadian high Arctic has been found to survive on most downfallen (permafrost) temperatures easily. The frosting temperature on Ellesmere Island, Canadian high Arctic is closely similar to that of the surface of Mars. Hence, this special organism has shown new possibilities of Life on Mars as well as one of the moons of Saturn, Enceladus. The surface temperature of Mars and Enceladus holds subzero conditions where life cannot be expected, however, this bacterium offered an ease in surviving in conditions similar to subzero conditions, i.e. temperature below -15 º C. The new founding had been made recently by McGill University and their scientists on a bacterium. This picture has been taken from the Internet and does not represent the actual visual description of the ' Planococcus haloctyophilus OR1 ' bacterium from Canadian High Arctic. The team of researchers did screening of about two hundred different microbes to find the most able microorganis...

Chinese man Mr. Li claims to have an Alien in his freezer

How do they look? Why do aliens visit the Earth? How they are different from us, and do aliens really exist or it is just a myth? These are a few doubts out of many the human race always has with it. Among all these questions, a Chinese man shared in public some pictures of an alien in his freezer. The alien; whose name is enough to invite us knowing about this news further. Mr. Li, a local resident of China claims having an alien with him and that too in his home. He has shot a few pictures of an alien whom he had stored in a freezer. Afterwards, Mr. Li posted these pictures on the Internet and made the human race surprised. The pictures had become a matter of attraction and excitement among the social networking sites in China . According to Mr. Li, he had heard some noise on the roof of his house and he turned vigilant about the same. Then he saw an alien spaceship which was actually a flying saucer of aliens landed on the ground. When this strange looking ali...

Space-diving suit to swim in the vacuum of the Space

An advanced space-suit is being developed for the space diving adventurers which will change the whole experience of jumping from high altitude of outer space into the Earth’s atmosphere. This futuristic space-suit will let the astronauts float in the space vacuum and bear the searing heat while entering into Earth’s atmosphere without the spaceship. Juxtopia LLC and Solar System Express of Baltimore Maryland are working together on the RL MARK VI Space diving suit program which will provide the future space travelers the ability to reach at the Earth alive after jumping from Earth’s orbit in case of emergency or thrilling adventurous experiences. At present, it sounds as fictional as the superheroes of fictional movies and comics who are capable of flying from Earth to space in their super heroic costumes and energy balls. The space-suit offers a safe and pin-point landing of space travelers and space diving adventurers to the ground. According to the news,  the ...

What are Super-giant stars?

The most massive stars out in the space are termed as Super giants or Supergiant stars . Are you eager to know more about Supergiants? Read this article to know more about these stars. Super-giants  – the super massive stars have masses varying from 10 to 70 solar masses or even more and brightness ranging from thirty thousands to many hundreds of thousands times the solar luminosity. Their radii may vary from thirty to five hundred or as more as one thousand plus solar radii. They are of short lifespan of only ten to fifty millions years because of their extreme masses. They are observed in young cosmic structures (the spiral galaxies’ arms, open clusters and irregular galaxies etc). Some currently known Super-giants in terms of physical size, however, not the most massive stars in terms of mass or/and luminosity are: VV Cephei V354 Cephei KW Sagitarii KY Cygni The Garmet Star Mu Cephei  [Source: Wikipedia and WWW]

Red supergiant stars – Explained

Ever wondered what are Red supergiants? What gives red supergiant red color? Read it here know some facts about the massive red giant stars. Stars become red  super-giant  during their helium burning phase that takes place after the hydrogen burning phase of stars of about ten solar masses or more.  They have comparatively very cool temperatures of about 3500 to 4500 K. The red super giant stars are the largest stars in terms of physical size, and are of K -M spectral type. While these are known are the largest stars with respect to their physical size, these are not the most massive stars in the universe. They have enormous radii and a luminosity class of I. Most of the red super giants have radius of 200 to 800 times the radius of our Sun. Presently, the four largest known red super giant stars in Milky Way galaxy are: Mu Cephei KW Sagitarii V354 Cephei KY Cygni All of these four giant stars have a radius nearly 1500 times th...

NASA’s Swift satellite found signs of a new Black Hole in Milky Way galaxy. Swift J 1745.26

America’s Space agency  NASA’s Swift satellite  has found the signs of an  unknown black hole  in our  Milky Way . Space scientists have no idea about its real distance from our planet, but they are believing as it is on a distance of 20 to 30 thousand light years away from the inner space of our Milky Way. It has been reported that this Black Hole has been came into vision due to the light of a  Bright X-ray Nova . The Head Researcher of this project,   Neil Gehrels said  that ‘such lightning X-ray Nova are rare to be seen, and this the only such  X-ray Nova,  which Swift has captured. Actually, we were waiting for the same’. A scientist,  Borris Baruffati  has shown his hope that as the effects of this X-ray Nova will get decreased, we will be able to clear if it is really a Black Hole or not, but knowing its mass. What is a Black Hole? Black hole  is that place in the space, from where ...
